Wine

Longview Yakka Shiraz is named after the Yakka (or Xanthorrhoea) plant, a grass tree ubiquitous in Australia and found around the winery's perimeter.

These hardy plants thrive in nutrient poor soils; similarly, Shiraz vines handle the vineyard's tough, rocky soils even in difficult vintages, inspiring the wine's name.

The fruit is handpicked at daybreak and chilled overnight. Most is crushed and destemmed into open fermenters. A small proportion is left as whole bunches. The juice receives a long, cool ferment with pump overs three times daily.

Once pressed, the wine is settled and racked into a mix of new and seasoned barrels to mature for up to 15 months.

Dark violet, Longview Yakka Shiraz is medium bodied with silky fruit flavours, spice and smooth tannins. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
